Benefits of Vermicast
Vermicast is naturally rich in humus, which continues to decompose in the soil and gradually releases essential nutrients. The organic matter enhances the soil’s ability to retain moisture while improving its texture—soft, crumbly, and ideal for plant roots. It also contains beneficial microorganisms that break down organic materials into nutrients readily absorbed by plants.
As a natural, organic soil conditioner, vermicast is safe for both plants and the environment. Unlike chemical fertilisers, it won’t burn seedlings or damage delicate foliage.
How to Use Vermicast
✅ For New Potting
Mix vermicast with potting soil at a 1:5 ratio to create a nutrient-rich medium for vegetables and plants.
✅ To Improve Existing Soil
Sprinkle vermicast as a top mulch or mix it directly into the root zone to rejuvenate tired soil and promote healthy plant growth.
✅ To Brew Vermicompost Tea
-
Mix vermicast with water at a 1:5 ratio.
-
Add 1 spoon of sugar-based fertiliser to feed the beneficial microbes.
-
Stir occasionally and let it sit for 3 hours to oxygenate.
-
Dilute again with water at a 1:5 ratio and apply directly to soil for a nutrient boost.
