Here are some tips for growing Chinese cabbage seedlings:

When to plant:
Sow seeds in early April, or four to six weeks before transplanting.

How to plant:

Sow seeds directly in the garden 6 mm deep and 25–40 cm apart, with rows 40 cm apart.

Soil:

Keep soil moist but never wet or dry.

Temperature:

Chinese cabbage grows best in cool temperatures of spring and fall, and can tolerate a light frost.

Germination:

Seeds should germinate in around 7–14 days at a soil temperature of 7–23°C.

Protection:

Young seedlings need protection from pests, pets, and weather until they are established.

Fertilizer:

Apply fertilizer to developing seedlings beginning when the first true leaf appears.

Watering:

When the plants have five true leaves after about three weeks, reduce watering.

Harvest:

Harvest cabbages once they have formed a firm head that’s the size you want.
